Redwood is a large tree added by Natura and unlike many trees it is composed of several different block types including:
- Redwood
- Redwood Bark
- Redwood Root
The trees come in different varieties of huge. Some trees can have up to four trunk section (parts where the radius shrinks 1 block) before the canopy.
The trees shown on the first picture only have three sections, whereas the one on the second has four. It's not confirmed whether or not it can have more than 3-4 sections.
To grow this massive tree, you need 49 Redwood saplings (note that there are 2 different types of redwood saplings) and patience. The sapling that you need will have a tooltip with "Plant these in a 7x7. It takes days to grow". To grow the tree, plant the saplings in a 7x7 square. Then you have to wait until the tree grows. Bonemeal has no effect on the Redwood's growth. The Minecraft forums say that it usually takes 5-7 minecraft days and you can sleep to skip the nights. But the forum also says that if you are unlucky, it may take 2 real life days. Some people on the forums say that if you leave 4 blocks of space on all sides of the 7x7 formation the tree will grow. But others have left the game on for days and the tree hasn't grown.(Verification Needed)
Treecapitator will harvest this version of the Redwood (Giant Sequoia). Treecapitator is able to harvest the heart of the wood and bark.(Verification Needed) Also the redwood saplings were able to grow after planting just 6 saplings instantaneously.
Uses
The Redwood Bark cannot be crafted into planks, nor can the Redwood Roots. Redwood Bark is used to craft a Redwood Bark Door which is used in making the Redwood secret door.
The bark and roots are also very useful for making charcoal with an 8x yield over coal. When making charcoal in a furnace, one coal will yield eight charcoal from redwood bark or roots.
